A quick sitrep before bed.

- Guy forgets to PM you when you aren't part of his plans. Schoolboy error. But good to know if he does survive the night.

- The more I speak with him, the more I like him. It's a pity he advertised his challenge suckage so hard because he is always going to be a back-up target now. And do I want to commit to a partnership where a) he can die at any tie and b) Sketchy Wario is involved? Not really. He might even go in tonight. He might vote Yoshi if I sold him right on it.

- Nah. Get out of here already. No time for that.

- his name not coming up at all at all this round shows he's connected. Although, I've hardly heard Cap/Squirtle either so I suppose that's not to be worried about. 

- Playing a good double-agent right now but will get caught for it eventually. I'll probably make sure of that myself

- I think I did him a little dirty earlier when I was cursing him out. Then used him as bait for Cap & Squirtle a bit. I hope they don't talk too much. Though he's so laid back I think I'm good there? I hope. Whoops.

& - Grouping them as one because I feel like at this point they are closer to each other than to me. I'm okay with that. I wish other people could see it though.

- we haven't really reconnected since merge. We were on kinda shaky ground on the last days of Blue anyway so that makes sense. And now I'm flat out lying to him so I guess any re-connect is a while away yet. His PMs haven't gotten any easier to read in his time away.

- Cap deflated my PM chain with a "Hey Myrtle, so you saying it's still okay for us to vote you? But if you hear it's Squirtle or I being put in against, then we'll flip the table on this" which is impressively ballsy and blunt but also extremely telling. I like his attitude. I just wish he saw me as someone worth protecting, but I don't think he does now or ever will.

After typing that up I realise a better boot for me would be Wario, and keep Yoshi around to target after that. As easy as he is to read now, to cut out the scheming and hopefully bring KRool a bit closer to me would be a double-win.

And maybe once Yoshi IS Squirtle/Cap's pocket vote people will pay attention to my cries of Wolf a bit more.

I told Wario that Pink aren't voting Yoshi, that's just what I wanted

Are Gold still sending in Robin? The gal who just spanked the Plant?

Might not be wise, I heard from both the Pinks & some Gold how Wario was organising some 4-4 split, and I think they actually want us to vote Wario

Are you sure you-me-KRool can't vote Yoshi for cover?

It doesn't even add up, but I feel like Wario is the type of player to take that all to heart and go stir-crazy over the next few hours.

I threw a lot of shit at the wall in the last little while. I want to believe I scared them off a 4-4 split into just a pile-on, as they realise none of them can really trust each other yet. Maybe that would have happened anyway, but maybe I influenced it.

We're not changing anything further. I'll sleep on whether we want to bid on Shield or not.

For the record, I didn't really want to be committed to Pink, but the game is pushing me that direction.

And I didn't want to be within that, committed to the three girls, but the game is pushing me that direction too

So this is the part of Arena games I don't enjoy. I am probably going to be a target tonight, I'm fully expecting it since the last one landed on Myrtle. Two schools of excuse there;

1) Yoshi got choice and Gold backed him. I don't believe that really. For his eggs strategy for one and since the girls duelled before.

2) Myrtle & I are an unbreakable pair that needs to be broken. You mean, unlike all the other pairs and trios in the game?

More likely the Green connection to Dede/Pit was being protected. Especially if some people were trying to include them in a split vote plan on us.

So where does that leave me? My Blue connections are a bust. My K.Rool/Wario connection is so underdeveloped it's not good enough for anything yet.

So what can I do? Not much tbh.

I'll assume the Girls win with that kind of confidence. If they don't, I'll probably continue to push Yoshi's name as long as he continues to swear by the egg strategy. That gives me a believable target and people don't need to worry about me targeting them. I could reverse that approach, but only after another stomping Arena win - where anyone could be a target so bringing my name up could be your own death warrant.

That never really works though, because everyone inflates their own skills and thinks it won't be them that lucks out.

I don't want to default into condescending challenge whore mode but I can already feel it creeping into my game.

Also I'm glad the stained glass one is out. I'd probably have been okay at it, but I couldn't find any practice versions of it anywhere that didn't cost cash money.

I mentioned this earlier without diving too deep, because its not something people want to read. But I'm cool with the gritty side of these games so this is where we are at.

Squirtle/Cap have decided to go with Gold. And from their side sure, why the fuck not? The way I am framing it to them is not nearly as bad as it really is. But they don't also get to pretend like there is nothing wrong here. Put me in to duel, idc. But if they are going that road I am going to hammer home with them just how bad an idea it is, and just how much of a prick move they are doing here. And how stupid it is to hand over control to the Greens. Is it actually stupid? Maybe not so much? They are currently playing into a position where they get F7 or whatever with Wario & K.Rool in tow. I mean, you can win from there - especially if your OG tribe is backing you from the Jury. I am reminding them that they aren't getting that, if this is how they do it. Which is true. I would give allcredit in this situation to Pit/Dede/Kazuya for pulling their strings, or anyone not-Blue for surviving.

It's a balance on my side though. I do want them to think I'm a bitter prick right this minute, but I don't want to come off soooo bitter that they continue to think that in two rounds time. But like, Squirtle has been wishy washy af all game. Consequences come a-calling sooner or later.

I am not winning any friends today. But I'm not getting out of going in, and if I'm going in, I don't see the harm in digging a little deeper (dig upwards, stoopid!).

This is the part of Arena I mentioned that I don't enjoy. It's just so bad-tempered and I don't see any real way around it. Like even as a host, I don't know how you could fix the format to avoid this phase - it's just inevitable.



So, I'm going in. What are my actual goals.

1) I don't want to fight against K.Rool. Facing off against him seems like such a cop out, because that's what it would be :shrug Far better to have the Gold side of things feel so under pressure that they send him in. And then he can lose and go to Jury knowing I had his back.
2) Wario is immune. I thought about a 22 bid yesterday which wouldn't have been enough. I thought about a 43 too, but it seemed like a waste.
I think I'd like to see Wario out of the game lbh. He's a hassle to deal with, and right now, he's committed to Gold.

If I was Myrtle and in all the same convos as me I'd be pulling my hair out at the bullshit this guy keeps spewing

That said, I might have done enough with enough people to achieve my secret actual goal for the night. Which is, avoid the duel.

I don't think I've done enough for the secondary goals which are many. Have some Greens vote for other Greens. Get tight with KRool. Make Gold vote for KRool. Have Robin see me as a ride or die.



So much tonight is built on the asusmption that Yoshi loses. If he doesn't, I'll vote him again just out of spite for dragging out his duels so long. There's no tribe to join. Come on ta fuck.
