In lieu of making MVPs and the like, I will simply rank the cast so that the players see the OVERALL thoughts of one Tabuu before the curtain raises. I spent entirely too long on this.
22. Isabelle - If you can't play an org don't sign up. You are not legally obligated to do so, and by doing this you stopped someone who actually WANTED to play from being able to.
21. Squirtle - Squirtle has some positives that stop me from wanting to place him last, but jesus christ. The shtick was barely readable at the best times. We had to constantly monitor him so he wouldn't cause more issues for the game, like the overuse of ID investigations early on and other issues I don't care to delve into. And then his bitterness after his boot when it was very clear to everyone who read his confessional that he planned on using Captain Falcon as a shield to the end without actively voting Falcon and is mainly just pissed he lost a game he thought he had won and felt he deserved to win. I like Peter a lot in orgs, but this wasn't it for me sorry.
20. Wii Fit Trainer - Seemed like she got too busy here? Was lowkey rooting for her to do well after the smash ball find but the double selfvote really knocked the wind out of her sails here.
19. Marth - I feel bad for him that he got too busy in the second week and had to drop out. I wish Marth were better or weren't such a minion for green when they tossed him aside like he was nothing to them, it's so weird lol. Props for being able to bounce back the way he did though!
18. Duck Hunt - Great at the start, good at the end, not active enough in the middle sadly. Wish it were more because Duck Hunt was one of my faves early on, but he just seemed a bit too busy for this? Stan him using this strategy with the cards again after it completely ruined his prospects as Pimento and did the same here
17. Ike - Gone too soon Play again please!
16. Link - Ugh I wish that ID shit didn't happen, because I want to place him higher than this. But I can't really justify it when he was lucky to not be removed from the game for it, even if he did lose the duel a few hours later. Excluding that, which would be a last place thing, he was maybe a top 10 player here. Out of his depth with the cast but still giving all his views in loser lounge and being a great viewer after, and he survived a lot longer than expected! Just an unfortunate circumstance. In blue because I am MIXED on this. In another game I have faith in him and I know this mistake won't ever be repeated.
15. Piranha Plant - Hilarious shtick that simply was not enacted properly. With a little more to it the shtick could've been great, but when it's just images and nothing else then there's no way to connect and this was always going to be the result. I am glad that he's playing with shticks though, and once the tweaks to things like this are made he'll probably have a lot of fun with them!
14. Yoshi - Beyond happy for Yoshi that Yoshi was able to make an ftc here, I really am I love me some Lord Yupa in hindsight. But I think everyone knows the egg gimmick wasn't great, and it needs to only be a one time experiment. I think Yoshi was probably planning to die early with it lol, but it ended up being a defining thing of the game and it's like playing a different game to the rest of the game and they suddenly need to play around something that they didn't sign up for. Higher than I thought I'd put Yoshi but Yoshi did have a good heart so.
13. Donkey Kong - Adorable. I was so happy seeing DK's slow rise through red's less than stellar crew, and him being one of the safest by virtue of just being active yesss He was swapfucked, but I think even if he wasn't he probably dies there anyway sadly. DK was good at going up the ranks, the only issue was just needing to send more in the messages beyond a one line reply to each point.
12. Pyra and Mythra - Better than I expected! I was admittedly nervous for them on jury, but they have been nothing but attentive and actually tried to get discussion going in there, I honestly forget they're not the first juror because they're the first ones (and only ones for a week) that made any effort to talk in there and at least try to comment on this ending. Might have been a few spots lower before (probably next to Link? not sure if above or below), but I want to give credit for the jury and the shtick was fun enough though I have been told by players that the personalities should've been swapped lol
11. Wario - Okay controversial but I'll speak my TRUTH!!! Yes Wario was abrasive, talked at people instead of to them, and threw away what could've been a win because he just didn't engage with people on the same level of respect as they tried to show him. I think this game was a learning one, but I am very glad he at least got 2nd here. If he fine tunes the social elements I would not be shocked to see Wario win an org this year, he has the potential. I think I am able to overlook the attitude in this game because he just brought a spark to this org, and it wouldn't be the same without him even if him not winning is the right outcome. I do wish he had done better in that regard, but I do not hate Wario in this game by any means and think this can be a great learning game if he takes it that way
10. Samus - Amazing first week, and then got too busy until she needed to pull out. Which I think started the downfall of pink, but I cannot really blame Samus for that. Samus in that first week was maybe the best socially of the entire cast, and she had so much to give. I'm kinda shocked this was a long retired player since she just went right into the power of the game without breaking a sweat.
9. Mario - Underdog of the first week! Okay Mario getting through all those duels the way he did was great, and I was so happy when he finally found safety and was actually surviving multiple votes without being sent in, and making his way back into safety! It felt like the beginning he deserved over Isabelle, and getting sent in 3-2-2 over multiple selfvoters. The second week... he didn't see the big picture until it was too late, but he did well enough even getting as far as he did so I'm happy.
8. King K Rool - Underrated! His challenge failures doomed him, but he was really playing a strong UTR game there that only got caught because they had no other option but to kill the worst at challenges to survive. He did everything right besides that in this merge, and I was beyond impressed by this. Glad King Andrew is playing again
7. Falco - I do NOT think my fellow cohosts will agree with Falco being this high, and while I agree that he often was his own worst enemy and perpetuated a lot of the stigmas in here that he seemed to hate, I also have to say it: Falco was my fave of the whole cast premerge, and I was always interested in his story and how he'd manage to be wrong on almost everything. Very glad he lost, like he absolutely should not be a winner, but a final juror for this event is good and I am at peace with this journey myself.
6. King Dedede - Great UTR game here, and only got taken out once there was rly no other options left. Dedede was hilarious with the shtick (idc if Dedede is greedy over a ruler in universe, it was funny), engaging and socially powerful, there was everything to like. His UTR game did mean his allies tended to be the more active faces of things, but I cannot express how good their alliance was.
5. Dark Pit - Similar to Dedede, but the more relevant participant of their duo Dark Pit had it all going for him, and he's gonna be mortified when he learns he's even losing arena duels to a relative noob Dark Pit was funny, enjoyable and during those first two weeks I thought he or Captain Falcon would be our winner, but leaning Dark Pit. In the merge it just seemed to catch up with him a bit and by the time he left the arc seemed to be transferring to Robin (who then left right after but still), but he was still great.
4. Richter - Funniest arc I've seen in a LONG time Richter was a fucking god and I have no doubts that if he was able to survive that round he lasts all the way into endgame. He was that good. But that boot round!!! Holy shit everything went wrong for the man, usually by his own actions and in the most hilarious ways, and he still stayed active long after his boot in 20th and was easily the most remembered prejuror here, and probably more relevant than a few jurors too. Proud of author's ability to fuck up votes in the most chaotic ways in Smash Arena games
3. Robin - A great story for Robin here, he was the king of Red but saw the writing on the wall and quickly ditched them for Greener pastures to connect with people he just vibed with better, and his merge game could've been an easy boot for being the only red (besides Yoshi, but like...) but he was able to show why he lasted so long and was great! Out of everyone in this merge, he's the only one I feel left too soon, but it was a wonderful journey while it lasted and Robin was clearly the star of the Pink alliance. And the brains of it
2. Kazuya - Kazuya and Captain Falcon's hidden alliance was SO GOOD. Originally I (and the players) thought Kazuya was just gonna be a number for Wario and green all game, but once he met the Captain and Squirtle they were such a force here in the best ways. Their trio was the best chat in the game (I even tried reading Squirtle pms in there!), Kazuya was very often on point with things and I think until the final 5 he and Falcon were playing amazingly. They protected each other but still kept it hidden enough that nobody even realised it until Kaz left, and the move on Squirtle was 100% justified and well played. The final 5... not so great, but I was really impressed by him here. You would not know he hadn't played orgs in about 10 years.
1. Captain Falcon - C'MON!!!!! Zesty once again proves they are the best player in Arena format. I think they've won their last 3 arena formats? And it is entirely deserved. Falcon FOUGHT to come back from a shaky start and managed it so powerfully that they never dueled until the final 5 despite Falco begging to boot them for rounds. It was so impressive and every time it seemed like he would finally duel, he had one more trick up his sleeve. Convincing Kaz to save him at 7 was so good. Making the move on Squirtle before Squirtle left him to die (i do not give a shit what Squirtle/Falco say on this) was a GREAT move that he needed to make because he doesn't survive 4 without it. Falcon was funny, but his intuition here is what gave him this win. A very impressive performance and deserving winner.
