Hi Yoshi!
Great to have you with us in this epic tournament! As our dear creator Masahiro said, feel free to use this space however you wish. However, to help get you get started, feel free to share your thoughts on the following questions:
1. What do you make of the Arena format and how will it impact on the way you choose to play?
2. Which fellow players did you find yourself drawn to in the first day?
3. Conversely, have you already made any enemies? Is there any Team that you wouldn't be happy to join?
4. Finally, do you have any thoughts on the Sandbags and how will they affect your approach to the game?
Feel free to reach out to the hosting team at any time if you have any questions. We’ll try to get back to you as quickly as possible.
Otherwise, we hope you have fun in this tournament and best of luck with being crowned Smash Arena: Ultimate Champion!

1) Being voted off is really not as much of a concern. I have decent ability at challenges so I trust I can make it through the early rounds by brute force if I have to.
2) Currently I am drawn most to Squirtle, Falco and Dark Pit, which is funny since only one of those has had an egg and that one has only said the words "Squirtle" and "friend" to me.
3) No enemies as of yet, however I can see that a few people have definitely already discounted me. Blue is looking like the team to join with players I like, Red is looking like the team to join from Egg Composition and I wouldn't mind being in green despite the lack of eggs.
4) I want to be winning the red sandbag as much as possible I feel, to either choose stages I don't like and get them out or to ban stages I am good at when I am not in the ring. Obviously when I am in the ring I need to choose stages I am good at to stay alive (except this one).

Night 2: Typing in Yoshi speech is starting to become second nature. Keeping up with all my DM's I thought would be difficult but I am only really contacting about 10 people which is kind of low. I think a few players (especially red) are not realising that I can actually be talked to :joy:. Right now Green looks menacing. Dark Pit didn't mention much about a group dynamic but Wario mentioned that things are progressing really fast so I feel like a group has already formed and Dark Pit isn't part of it. If Dark Pit joins me in the Ring then I won't be surprised and it will confirm this theory. Blue is a bunch of socialites but apparantly nothing major is happening. C. Falcon is playing the overlord card and while I don't mind playing along to it I feel like a bunch of the other Blues aren't particularly happy about it. Red feels like a bunch of non-communicators and Duck Hunt is confirming this. Mario only joined today for Dino's sake! And insulted my poor Squirtle to the boot! Just because he has an egg doesn't mean we have to be friends! Right now I either want to choose Blue or Red I think. Blue because I feel like many of them will make mid game or Red to survive longer. I haven't looked through many of the challenges but the ones I did I am pretty confident about. Makes me feel like I should choose Blue because I am confident I can survive early game against especially Red. Oh yeah! The thing I forgot to mention yesterday! The codes in the into slides. I translated the anagrams into: cdunaobkr -> backround oicsn -> sonic otu -> out dod -> odd I hope this means what I think it means and is referring to the Sonic heads on the backround. I could swear they moved spots so I screenshotted the heads for a reference spot (Getting the full row image was a nightmare I tell you.) Pretty sure this will relate to the super smash ball at some point. Anyway going to sleep for the night, hopefully some more progression tomorrow and I should hopefully finish reading the stages and rank them.

So stuff has happened. The split vote in Blue really wasn't that interesting, It was literally a decision between two inactive players of which one of them returned a few hours before the vote cutoff. Green also wasn't very interesting with just the voting off of a player they didn't like the communications of. However Piranha plant played very strongly in that challenge, so I am curious to see how they go this game. I wouldn't feel confident winning a 1v1 against them late game so hopefully they leave soon.
Red is looking like the quiet mess I assumed it was. Isabelle is looking like the one that is going to be going, which isn't a massive surprise, I haven't heard from them since Saturday and they didn't really talk about much game stuff.
This round I am going to be trying to win the attack stage overall so I can hopefully get rid of one of the stages I don't like (Piranha plant already got rid of one of them which is great!). It is always comforting to come second in a challenge that you noted down as one of the ones you would do worst in. I didn't actually read the challenge going in and didn't play optimally, but the first 8 questions were my longest streak anyway so that payed off.
I am interested to see how the first round of people choosing my vote with my eggs will go. I note that eggs have been discussed quite a lot in Green and Red, but I haven't heard of anything about that from Blue which is interesting. We'll see how that goes.

G'day Yoshster!
Considering you want Pirahna Plant gone, and given that Pirahna Plant has won 4 Sandbags in 2 rounds (including two immunities), do you have a plan in mind should you one day be on the same team as them?
How will the sandbags in general supplement your Egg strategy?

How will the sandbags in general supplement your Egg strategy? Let Piranha Plant do a Duck Hunt in Yoshi's opinion. Yoshi has spent a 12 and a 14 and Piranha Plant plant has at least used some high ones Yoshi expects. Should make it easier to get rid of them later. Yoshi's sandbag strategy is simple. Win as many of the attack sandbags (over all players) as possible. Yoshi had 7 stages they wanted out of the way at the start of the game, and 2 of them are already gone, with the help of Piranha Plant. Theoretically if Yoshi can get those stages out of the way, Yoshi would be able to revolving door their way for a long time. Yoshi is calling it now that it is going to be one of those 7 that will kill Yoshi.

So Yoshi is likely to be in the Ring again this round. Theoretically, if Yoshi wins the grab sandbag wins The Ring, and is also voted into the Ring, is Yoshi still immune or is The Ring useless? Yoshi probably isn't going to do so anyway but Yoshi is just curious . Yoshi is debating how high to go for the attack power. On 1 side, Yoshi can choose the stage Yoshi is fighting through. On the other side, Yoshi is facing 2 people this round, so Yoshi has much higher chance of surviving, if Yoshi also gets the 1 ban. Red Dynamics are interestingly basic, no big alliances seem to happen, everyone is kind of just ok with having easy targets to vote. Mario is easy because had nobody really looking out for them, Yoshi is easy because eggs and Duck Hunt is easy because relatively inactive. Yoshi thinks it is good time for team reshuffle. Yoshi will just try and make do with what there is. Yoshi also needs to consider that only high tier attack cards are going to be used a lot in the next bunch of rounds... Yoshi was lucky to get a Stage Select for only 26 last time, Yoshi doesn't think they will get it that cheap every again. Yoshi still has 5 bad stages and Yoshi would need to get rid of 4 of them to be safe... So Yoshi wants to save cards to use when Yoshi not in the ring. Yoshi also likes how Yoshi has transitioned to Yoshi speak in confessionals now. Yoshi is also sometimes catching themselves almost using it irl as well. Yoshi really should not be doing that but Yoshi thinks it is funny.

Grab Sandbag can't be won by the player voted into The Ring for this round only.

Yoshi, letting you know that I've seen and ruled on the message from Falco to Link, and issued a warning to Falco. Thanks for taking steps to limit the harm done in that situation!

Hey Yoshi!
Having now been voted off twice, has your thoughts on the Egg Strategy changed, or is it manifesting in a way that you expected?
How much of a factor is trust in your game (both finding trust in others, and building others trust in you), if at all?

Yoshi hasn't done an update in a while, so Yoshi will do big confessional in response to that question. Yoshi's last confessional was early in Red, but obviously a lot has happened since then. The votes on Red were very easy, probably the most split one was where Mario got voted in for the 3rd time. But the WFT vote was very unanimous. WFT apparently had major issues with Yoshi's egg strategy and refused to DM Yoshi and complained to everyone about it. Yoshi thinks they are just salty they didn't get Yoshi's egg. The Yoshi vote on Red was very much let known to Yoshi early on. In many ways it is the fault of Yoshi's eggs, where the main egg holders (Samus and Robin) realised that they can vote Yoshi out without worrying about offending Yoshi since they can just use Yoshi's eggs anyway. Yoshi was at least told in advance, and Yoshi believes that they are still on good terms with Robin and Samus, which will be important if Yoshi moves to Pink or makes it to merge. Yoshi did Terribly in the duel. Yoshi got a time about 3x what they had in practice, however Yoshi survived, so that is less of an issue. In fact, Yoshi might not mind coming second, because Yoshi hopefully has a plan for Yellow. Here is the summary of everyone there so far: Squirtle -> Yoshi decided early that Squirtle is someone to be protected. Yoshi likes the way Squirtle plays. Squirtle seems to be building friendships in the group so far and has hopefully made up with C. Falcon. Captain Falcon -> Yoshi thinks they are very nervous with Blue dissolving into the chaos it apparently dissolved into. Yoshi hopes this means C. Falcon will stick with Yoshi's eggs. Donkey Kong -> Yoshi knows that DK has very little connections with the rest of the team, being the only original Red there. Yoshi hopes that makes DK stick with Yoshi and Yoshi's eggs. Marth -> Marth also has one of Yoshi's eggs and Yoshi knows Marth is a bit scared of returning to the Ring since it is now a 1v1. Yoshi hopes this will help Marth choose Yoshi's side if Yoshi volunteers for the Ring before Marth. Wario -> Wario has one of Yoshi's eggs, but seems way too close to Kazuya. Yoshi also doesn't trust Wario particularly since they did try the inssurection in Green. Kazuya -> Bits of chat, but mainly wanted to ask whether or not Yoshi was willing to break with the eggs. Yoshi said something un-sidey? Yoshi unsure of word to use there. Yoshi doesn't particularly want to work with Kazuya as it involves losing more developed friends. Piranha Plant -> Only talks in gifs and images and Yoshi hopes they aren't a threat in the dynamics. Yoshi does know they are a threat in the challenges though, so hopefully they can be voted out sooner rather than later. So Yoshi's plan is to get the first 4 in the list to work with Yoshi. This gives a majority and Yoshi has volunteered to be the first vote off should we run out of votes. Hopefully the 4 of them are willing to work with Yoshi, Yoshi has messaged them all. The weekend is hopefully enough time to work something out. Wario has also discussed with Yoshi whether or not Yoshi is willing to abandon the eggs. Yoshi is definitely NOT going to abandon the eggs (or anything Yoshi promised in public) however, Yoshi can Pretend to abandon the rules in DMs, Yoshi's rules don't prevent that. Yoshi is currently debating whether or not to pretend to be willing to do so in DMs with Wario. Anything Yoshi tells Wario is likely to spread to the rest of the team, Kazuya has already spread what Yoshi told Kazuya about the eggs to Wario, which is what lets Yoshi know they are working together. Anyway, thats all for now, hopefully Yoshi can cover more near the end of the weekend when everything is hopefully sorted.

So Yoshi has just made a group chat of the 5 people Yoshi mentioned above. Everyone seems to be fine to make an allied vote, especially since Yoshi volunteered to be the Ring choice should we get into trouble. Yoshi hopes the guarantee of a spot in the Merge is enough to stop any betrayal that might happen. Ideally only 1 person after next round joins Yellow, so we can keep majority without having to worry about one member splitting off.
Right now Wario is trying to trick Yoshi into admitting that Yoshi is going to stop using the eggs, which is flawed in so many ways, but Yoshi will say it again in their confessionals, just so it is clear in hindsight:
"No matter what Yoshi says in Private messages, Yoshi is NEVER going to purposefully break ANY of their rules, and Yoshi expects to win should Yoshi make the final 3 due to this agreement. Should Yoshi break this agreement, Yoshi expects themself to get very little votes and make Yoshi's chance at winning much smaller."
Yoshi is not trying to play to get as far as possible, Yoshi is playing to try and get the win, and that involves not only making the final 3, but look the best doing it. And Yoshi is going to do that, or die trying.
As for the answer to the previous question, Yoshi assumes trust is the most important part of any alignment, and Yoshi is hoping that it is clear to their allies, that should Yoshi break their rules, Yoshi would get very little trust in the future and very little votes in the final 3. So yes, trust is the basis of the game Yoshi is playing. And we'll see whether or not it will get Yoshi the distance.
