Thank you for being part of Super Smash Arena: Ultimate! This is your confessional area, a private space that is yours to do what you like with. We've even disabled the post counter, so nobody will see how much or how little you confess. You can use your confessional to do any or all of the following:
- Explain your strategies - Talk about your experiences - Ask the hosts questions - Store information and resources
plus anything else you can think of. Just bear in mind that whatever you say will be visible to all once the game ends. To help you along, the hosts will pop in from time to time to ask questions. Feel free to answer them in as much or as little detail as you like, or not at all, whatever you prefer. In addition to this, your confessional will be where you:
- Cast votes - Play attack cards - Pick and ban stages - Compete in The Ring
Check your other stickied threads for more info on the first three of those. Good luck, and have fun!

Rules question:
"Gives the holder immunity from votes in the next round"
Wait sorry can you define "next" here? If I use an attack card at 7:45pm, and earn the Shield, do I then have immunity from the vote announced in ~15 minutes? Or, the next day?
Apologies in advance for all my rules questions!

The next day! Rules questions are good, the wall of text is pain. There's a lot to take in here, so I've left a while between the start and the first vote.

"He tells me to reassure you all that the specific contents of your PMs will not be posted publicly, but general commentary on your conversations will end up in the host blogs."
Wait so unlike in Aus Survivor, my PMs will never be directly readable by everyone after the game?

Your PMs won't be posted verbatim anywhere! This is mostly so you can say what you like in the confidence we won't intrude if you tell a close ally you're off for an embarrassing medical procedure or something. It's a personal preference of mine to make that clear, though we also didn't make the Camera public in Vietnam either, IIRC.

Wait sorry my memory is so blurry, weren't all my conversations with other contestants viewable after the game? Or is there a difference between that and "PMs"?

I didn't host your season, but my understanding is that the camera account and the player accounts are all kept private after any game, so any PMs you made were always hosts eyes only (and who you sent them too obviously), and never made public after the game. Only things that were posted in boards/threads like confessionals were made available to everyone.

So the confessional was viewable after the game, as well as the host blogs, but the conversations you had between players were just between the hosting team and you. Maybe Master Hand/Na Onka can confirm if I got anything wrong there?

Right ok, maybe I was mis-remembering what was public or not post-game! Thanks.

1. Masahiro Sakurai just to triple check, I'm allowed to DM other confirmed Red Team members now, is that correct? 2. If new players enter the Red team, will they have access to all previous messages? (Apologies if some of this has been covered, went looking for confirmation but didn't find it)

Hi Wii Fit Trainer!
Great to have you with us in this epic tournament! As our dear creator Masahiro said, feel free to use this space however you wish. However, to help get you get started, feel free to share your thoughts on the following questions:
1. What do you make of the Arena format and how will it impact on the way you choose to play?
2. What considerations came into play when you selected the Red Team?
3. Which fellow players did you find yourself drawn to in the first day?
4. Conversely, have you already made any enemies? Is there anyone on your Team that you aren't happy to see there?
5. Finally, do you have any thoughts on the Sandbags and how will they affect your approach to the game?
Feel free to reach out to the hosting team at any time if you have any questions. We’ll try to get back to you as quickly as possible.
Otherwise, we hope you have fun in this tournament and best of luck with being crowned Smash Arena: Ultimate Champion!

Hi everyone!
1. I've recently watched MTV's The Challenge Seasons 5-27, so the format is somewhat familiar. Obviously the huge difference is that this is still jury-based, rather than "marathon challenge" at the end. So the ultimate risk is much more subjective - who's a jury threat? - versus The Challenge wisdom of being careful about endurance athletes.
I *wish* this was more like The Challenge (uh, minus the egregious sexism, fatphobia, and bullying) because on my season of Aus Survivor I was great at challenges and terrible at jury management.
2. Out the gate I got ~6 DMs from immediately active players. Of course I responded, but I get skeptical about these kinds of players, because if they're messaging me this early (on very little to go on) they're probably messaging everyone. Fair enough, but I guess I'm the kind of player who wants to bet on a few close relationships as a show of authenticity.
But also, every single person in my DMs was hesitant to talk strategy, and instead was mostly just character roleplaying. I guess I'm a gamebot - enough with the pleasantries, if you don't want to get into it with me what are we doing here?
I had originally planned to go Green (more below) but when I saw a lot of those "early DM" players flood Green, it was time to look for less settled territory. In this kind of format I think it benefits me to go into a Team that is less socially active, especially since there aren't team based challenges for us to mess up.
3. I picked only one player to active reach out to pre teams choice - I liked Duck Hunt's banter style, clever without being too annoying, so took a risk and reached out directly. I feel like we had a good vibe, so we agreed to join the same team together (pivoting from Green to Red last minute) and to try to build a core alliance.
5. No major thoughts on Sandbags yet... I actively avoided joining a team first, I didn't want that attention yet (lol unlike in my Aus Survivor game where I was the first Team Captain)
