This thread is for anyone who is overwhelmed by ProBoards, be they totally new or just in need of a refresher. It was formulated by Sandbag and edited by the host squad of the Australian Survivor ORG series, currently spearheaded by Master Hand. I've also made some of my own edits for this game. The guide will go over all of the basics of the board, as well as the minimum skillset you'll require to participate in the duels.
GUIDE TO PROBOARDS
This thread will help you interact with everything!!!!
Alright so there's a lot of things you can do. If you are familiar with using an online forum then most of it will be simple and easy to learn, but we will be catering to the lowest so just sit back, relax and learn! Obviously, you don't need to read all of this now and you're not expected to remember absolutely everything, but keep this in mind as a guide if you're ever unsure of how to do something. If it's not here, ask a host!
1. Boards
A board is the list of things you can see on the main page. "Notices" is a board. As are How to Play, The Ring etc.
2. Threads
Threads are areas for discussion inside each of the boards. "Guide to Proboards" is a thread. "Rules" is a thread etc.
3. Posting
When you enter a thread, you can make a post! You can do this by scrolling to the bottom of the thread and typing in the Quick Reply box, or for a full set of tools and preview function you can click the "Reply" button which will bring up a fairly easy to use document writer with all your basic functions like bold, italics, underline, etc.
4. Posting Images
The Most Important Function In This Game. You will use image posting in many challenges. This is a skill you will need. Firstly you will need to know how to get the URLs of images. To do so, in most browsers you can simply right click on any image and you will see some option to the effect of 'Copy Image URL' or 'Copy Image Address'. This will put the URL of the image onto your clipboard. You must then paste the URL of the image in an IMG brackets.
This is an IMG bracket:
You MUST use the square brackets for this to work, and you MUST type the / in the closing tag. For example this code:
Returns this:
(Having the '/' on the second bracket is very important or it will not work)
Alternatively you may click this button: and post the URL in there and then click 'insert image'.
With either method, the URL you use must include the file type of the image at the end, like .jpg or .png.
To recap:
- Copy Image URL or Copy Image Address saves an image link to your clipboard.
- Putting that URL between IMG and /IMG in square brackets will post the image.
- You must remember the slash, and the square brackets.
5. Uploading Images
Certain challenges will require you to upload images. You can do this at imgur.com/upload, or other similar sites, and then post them from there using the method in the previous segment. A number of challenges will require to edit images using Paint or similar as well; it may help you to practice drawing a stick-figure in Paint and uploading it to post in your confessional to get this process down.
When uploading images or screenshots, take care to use a site that will not give any identifying information or accounts that might violate any ID rules. This is very important and is why we recommend using imgur.
6. Manipulating Images
Another skill that you'll need in certain challenges is sorting and arranging several images in one post. To do this, you need not post the img tags for every image separately on different lines. You can use the "Preview" tab of the Reply window to drag and drop images into the layout you like. If it doesn't immediately display when you post images, try swapping between the Preview and BBCode windows and back again. This should make all images viewable in the preview window.
If you want to give this a try, rearrange these pieces:
7. Private Messaging
This is also the Most Important Function In This Game. This is how you will communicate with your teammates privately. Fortunately it is infinitely easier to use. Click the "Messages" tab at the top of your screen to view and reply to your received messages. There will be a floating number above your inbox whenever you have a new message. When you private message someone it will start a conversation which is essentially the same as a thread, except only involving the people you contact. To create a new PM, simply click the "New Message" button and begin writing.
When entering whom you are sending the message to, simply write their name in the space titled "Enter a username" and their name and avatar will pop up. Click on them and they'll be added to the list of recipients! For moderation purposes, an account named "Lakitu" (used by us) must be included in every message.
8. Personal Settings
So if you click on the 'Profile' Tab at the top of the page you'll be brought to your personal Profile page. From here you are able to edit your profile and various features. However A lot of settings are prepared in a specific way. When editing your profile, please contact a host notifying them of your intended change prior to doing so.
Do not under any circumstance change any of the following:

Password
Gender
Email
ANYTHING IN THE 'SOCIAL' TAB
