In the Star Fox 64, aka Lylat Wars, Fox McCloud and his wingman Falco Lombardi pilot Arwings and shoot their way through on-rails stages to stop the evil mad scientist Andross. They do this alongside a squadron of teammates, who occasionally chime in by radio during missions to offer advice (wanted or not), and cry for help in sticky situations. These radio chats form part of an Easter Egg introduced in Super Smash Bros. Melee, where either fighter can perform a Taunt in a certain way to trigger secret, humourous conversations.
This duel will involve completing a dropdown puzzle inspired by this radio chatter. These puzzles are sometimes also called drop-lines or quote-falls. When you begin, you'll see a grid that is mostly empty, aside from punctuation. Some letters will be arranged in alphabetical order in columns below the grid. Your task is to fill each cell of the grid using the letters found in the corresponding column below it. When every letter below the puzzle has been placed in its correct row, the letters will form a phrase. If you place each column's letters in the correct location and you shall obtain the answer.
For example, this Dropdown puzzle:
Would be correctly filled in like so:
Obviously, the actual puzzle will be bigger and harder. In solving, note that no words will span multiple lines.
This is all of the information you'll receive unless you opt to receive one of two hints. The first hint comes with a 15-minute penalty attached, while the second comes with all of the information from the first hint plus more, at the steeper cost of a 30-minute penalty. Since the hints build upon each other, you receive only the highest penalty you access. To receive a hint, simply change your display group to Hint 1 or Hint 2. You'll then be able to see a thread containing the hint images. Take care to select the correct display group, because even you select the hint group even for a moment, you will be assessed the penalty associated with it.
Once you think you have the solution, post it in text in your thread for the duel. Do NOT submit your answer on the image itself. Any punctuation symbols and spaces included in the grid must also be included in your answer. If your answer is correct, a trigger will produce a finishing image, stopping your clock.
The fastest time(s) after penalties will survive The Ring and, if applicable, select a team to return to. The loser will be eliminated from the game.
