So one point not mentioned above for trusting Wario/Kazuya for now was Wario's willingness to share the tribe selection list he got. Which I planned to spreadsheet out later when I had the time. And I just did.... and SQUIRTLESHOCKER! it's a fake!!!! He has Robin picking Duckhunt before King K Rool was taken, and the rules were that everyone had to pick from a team not their own, until/unless that was no longer possible. I'm hoping Masahiro Sakurai can confirm that the swap was done properly and there was no host error. And then must draw my own conclusions.... There are a few red flags in there which sounded strange already, like Wario having first pick overall and choosing DK of all people! Only to not click at all and vote for eachother a few days later. The end of the pinklist is in the same order as the last 4 listed by number in the announcement post too, so if somebody were trying to make things up there could be the starting point... or they just switched a few names around to obscure who was close on the green team. Hmmmmm. |

It's a strange mistake to make, and one that was made at least twice if it was unintentional, as Wario send the list to me before sending it to the groupchat. And had to change the phrasing to switch 'you' to 'Squirtle'.
The why of it isn't something I'm likely to find out any time soon, though I suppose I can/will speculate. But far more interesting is the question of what to do with this information. I've already pointed it out to the Captain to see what he thinks. And thought it might be a good idea to run a narrow slice of it (wario's claimed first pick) past donkeykong just in case he wants to rebuild something - and he has the power to crosscheck with Samus until pyramythra finally comes online and does the duel, so could easily dis/prove the whole thing if he had a mind to. I wish I'd noticed while Falco was still in the ring, as I don't trust pyramythra not to run my doubts back to people on my side rather than checking with the other side to see what the truth is.
And while I know I've sought, and promised, a quiet and easy week... and that sticking to the five is the clear way to do so... if I did want to flip the script this could be a useful spark to light a flame with...

Round Squirtleseven! Squirtlesummary! (Squirtle gone miss snumbers, needbe hangin no till sixteen!) Welcome to the middle of the week! In which Squirlte throws himself into last-minute messiness, and then probably needs to star a new confesisonal thread about squirting out the dramafires. So far I don't think this week's theatrics have quite risen to that level. Yet. But they're certainly not so calm to rule it out. And not nearly as calm as I'd hoped for a Monday. The crux of this round was the sense that inevitable, inescapable greeteampower was going to coalesce on yellowteam sooner than hoped/planned. Choosing planwario over planyoshi always mean that even if everything went according to plan, the final swapround was always a potential mess - if we'd gone down the line and removed donkey, yoshi, teethplant, newcomerkingcruel, there's still most likely one more vote (to merge at 12 on Thursday even though jury begins at 13? I've given up.) unless we get another ringduel winner in the meantime, which is less likely now that every winner gets their first pick or teams to join. With pinkteam seemingly turning red (get to that later) it seemed we'd be getting an influx of more greenteamsmasher, if we got any more at all. And that only increases the danger that come the final mergerounds, Wario/Kazuya would have the power and ability to side with their old green friends at the expense of squirtle/captain. Now a sensible, calm player would probably just sit with that and place confidence in their own trust-building abilities to become closer to the greens by the end of the week, and at the very least place above the captain in their pecking order, if not surely well above any green newcomers. Lucky for the lurkers, you have Squirtle and captain, doing exactly what Falcon refused to let happen (until it did), egging one another on into swinging first, asking questions later. Which is to say that this may not have been the wisest move. But if it was a necessary one, it was one which needed to be made sooner rather than later for fear of either not being a possibility later on if/when we realised we needed to remove a core green number to stay safe ourselves, and to maximise the timeframe for damage control so that relationships can ideally be salvaged going into the merge. Here's the logic: If we let yoshi go (which remember I'm keen to avoid if possible) and wario/kazuya wanted to side with kingcruel, they'd be three to marth/squirtle/captain's three. With an unpredictable plant in the middle who'd just tried to hit wario twice and been shut down by the blue three, so has every reason to turn on them now. (Not to mention the earlier voteout thing...) Or we get a new number from the ringduel, most likely (as we saw it then) another green who could tip the balance, or cause rocks if the plant wanted to troll again. Even if not a green, still somebody both sides could be trying to woo and who knows how that pans out. Now, do I think there was real danger of kazuya/wario making a play against Squirtle/captain before they had no other option? Well... not really. For all Wario's lies we had been developing a strong working relationship, and things with Kazuya were coming along nicely (longer, less frequent messages, but all creative and quite fun). But I knew they'd at least want to be considering it, if not today then down the line. Their insistence last night (squirtletime) upon locking in a yoshi vote before seeing who the ringduelwinning newcomer wouldbe, without discussing the options for who might become the alternative to yoshi - it rubbed me the wrong way, and the captain too. It felt like they didn't want to enter into the discussion, for fear that we'd want to vote kingcruel ahead of yoshi (which in a vacuum was probably correct for what Squirtle wanted at least, though captain lessso). But not opening the discussion raised what I told captain was a greenredflag. This was happening at the same time as the squirtlesurrepticious (Hey I can switch dialects when I find a new pun to show off, okay!?) around the tribeswaplist. So the overall impression was of something being off. Add to this that I was able to work toward some details from kingcruel about the greenteam, which flatly contradicted what Wario had told me earlier. Granted, the 'earlier' was when Wario was in the ring, before we bonded at all, but the audacity of the guy to tell me the two kings were running the show when really kingcruel was on the outs, messaging minimally and possibly needed safety to survive a round (all of which is better backed by a few things other ringduellers have said throughout, down to donkeykong yesterday hearing the pinkteam was voting for inactivity)... and then find a need to alter the switchlist to either preserve that lie or propogate some new one, rather than being honest. Yeah, I guess I was annoyed at the guy. So I loop Marth in to the swaplist thing to see how he reacts (namely, would he still want to protect the greens) and switch off for the (squirtle)night. Wake up to find Captain has already decided we need urgently to flip, that it needs to be wario rather than kingcruel (my presumption if we wanted a cleaner getaway by just talking to our ostensible allies and seeing if they'd concede a possible greenteam ally for our comfrot), that he'd already promised yoshi to be on board for a wario vote, and the teethplant was aware of it too. And when faced with either joining the movement I'd helped trigger or going to rocks... it wasn't much of a decision. Marth agreed with a simple, accepting, 'yes sure' to whatever we wanted, once again. And then it was goodbye wario, with a feeling that I'd kind of lost control of the momentum. Still I'm happy to employ as much posthoc rationalisation as possible if it helps with the damage control. I used the vote/reveal break to cosy up to kingcruel and explain my vote (though it seems some priming from yoshi before a blueteam joke meant he took away that I only wanted to avoid rocks, which wasn't really it at all, not that I'm complaining at yoshi's own gratitude to Squirtle) which also would have been an important step if Marth had not switched his vote, and we'd needed kingcruel to flip on the tie. Of course that led to the knowledge that kingcruel probably wasn't nearly as willing to work with wario as we presumed wario might have been to scoop up kingcruel as a number. But too late for reality to matter now.... Anyhow, Kingcruel is fitting so nicely into my PMs that my visions for the future may end up including him too. We're also discussing the state of pinkteam, where apparently some deal was struck to hit one from green and then one from blue... if you believe what Falco fed kingcruel and don't just run the numbers to see that knowing pyramythra would join, it was kind of inevitable - dedede/pit/pyramythra/falco could have forced rocks tonight to get a red out. And the blues can keep swinging back and forth as they please now... kind of like we blues over on yellow. I cannot even imagine how I'd have reacted if you'd gone back to the Squirtle a week ago and told him this would be the future  And I've sent Kazuya probably a better summary of the above than I typed here (because I was acting like I believed it all necessitated a flip), explaining in full honestly what I felt the need to remove Wario, and hoping he doesn't take it personally. It's the radical honesty that I denied pyramythra and I'm hoping kazuya will appreciate the effort I've put in to even detailing all of it, and eventually come around to working together again, based on if not forgiveness then at least having a decent idea of how I think and play, worth exploiting while biding his time for eventual revenge. Frankly I think I've done more to betray Captain Falcon then I ever did Kazuya, and to my mind we've barely even met. But if I can even potentially gain an ally here rather than lose one, well that'd be nice for a change. Speaking of which... the plan to get kingcruel safety instead of the plant worked out nicely (which if anything shows that green/blue alliance chat was indeed effective), but now suddenly the plant maybe has a reason to trust me? Ooooooooof. Still moving into round 8 on the presumption that it ought to be plant here, but the various damage control elements and moving parts do still mean that things could... move... again.
