 Masahiro Sakurai Zesty is our winner! Beyond the Final 5 misstep (which somehow worked out for you anyway), I didn't think you really put a foot wrong here. Even as you were offline when the big foursome on Blue formed, you managed to get enough votes to survive at 6, and the rest was history. You were always just that bit more aware than everyone else was, identifying the Pink alliance from the Spectator Stands and having the smarts to sniff out the unaccounted for Smash Ball and remove it from the equation in the nick of time, preventing Squirtle from stealing your thunder. You even defused dilemmas like the merge Smash Ball expertly. You're an incredibly deserving winner of this game, and your superb track record in this format is a testament to that. The format's use of challenges is often considered centralising, but there are many more votes than there are challenges, and I think your success here makes it clear that social and strategic gameplay is vital. As Captain Falcon, you were outstanding as well. I was astonished to have no Captain Falcon, so when you changed to him for your first male rep, I was delighted and curious to see how you'd do. Needless to say, it was fantastic, and you need not pigeonhole yourself ever. I've raved about your confessional and use of music already, but I'll mention it here as well. Congratulations not just on your win, but on how well you managed to keep us all engaged with your experience here. Sandbag Cap  You were a shining light throughout this game. It is hard for me to pick a favourite performance of yours between Android 18 and Captain Falcon, but I think Cap takes it with just how narratively complete it feels. You had so many interesting relationships in this game with almost everyone. This game feels like it was your game, and while I'm certainly surprised you managed it after the rocky start I am so happy and so proud of what you did in this game. You earned the fuck out of this win and while the somewhat apathetic jury may have made it closer than it probably would've been in another universe, for me it was a landslide. Nobody had their pulse on this game better than you did, particularly due to the CapZuya alliance and your skill at hiding it. Reading you relay your lack of communication with Kazuya while the two of you were working all angles was brilliant, and your Final 6 decision to oust Squirtle was objectively a good move, and one that was necessary for any other member of the final 6 to win the game so y'all can start telling everyone who says otherwise to shut up because they're wrong. As you've said yourself many times this was not a perfect game, or a clean game, but I will say that you played this game about as well as anyone can reasonably expect to do, and to be such a jovial presence and doing the best kind of justice to your character... I'm floored. Thank you so much for playing this game, Congratulations on the well deserved victory and it really was just such a treat seeing you and Kazuya get along so well. Great taste in music too.
And Zesty continues to prove why they're the king of Arena I know you thought picking your first male rep ever would have some bigger adjustments to make, but getting a win on the first go should alleviate any fears you had there I think? Captain Falcon has been my fave in this cast for a while, the confessional was great and engaging, your ability to survive rounds you had absolutely no right surviving was unmatched (HOW did you live in round 3? or the final 4???) and you always seemed to know exactly what the right move to make was, with the exception of final 5... but somehow this worked out because your opponents messed up even more at 4. The play on Squirtle at final 6 was great, as Sandbag says, and you absolutely earned this victory here. We should've known you'd have this win locked up after winning the last two arena games you were in (to my knowledge), but you more than anyone seem to be unstoppable in Arena, you just have an ability to adapt on the fly that other players simply don't seem to have. It's impressive and scary. Very deserved victory |

Yeah, I caught on to that during this reveal. Never would have guessed otherwise, lol. You did soooo well here. Couldn't believe how blind other people were to it. Even I waited too long to make a move against you. You have taken your usual talent for these games and refined it further, playing to both your strengths and the arena format perfectly. Well done. Zesty, in over ten years of friendship I have lost to you at FTC, voted for you to win from the jury and even stanned you from Lurker's Lounge as you won. Yet I've never seen you win from this particular angle before, and I think that made it even more special to watch unfold The character performance was brilliant obviously, that goes without saying. Your trajectory through the game had so many highs and lows, but you always remained resilient and did what needed to be done. It was an Arena masterclass IMO. 7-0 at FTC it must be now, right?  |
