Thank you for being part of Super Smash Arena: Ultimate! This is your confessional area, a private space that is yours to do what you like with. We've even disabled the post counter, so nobody will see how much or how little you confess. You can use your confessional to do any or all of the following:
- Explain your strategies - Talk about your experiences - Ask the hosts questions - Store information and resources
plus anything else you can think of. Just bear in mind that whatever you say will be visible to all once the game ends. To help you along, the hosts will pop in from time to time to ask questions. Feel free to answer them in as much or as little detail as you like, or not at all, whatever you prefer. In addition to this, your confessional will be where you:
- Cast votes - Play attack cards - Pick and ban stages - Compete in The Ring
Check your other stickied threads for more info on the first three of those. Good luck, and have fun!

I wish I had more time to figure this out! Currently have some active bounties I'm focused on. I haven't even said a proper hello yet, but we'll have to save that for later.

Hi Samus,
Great to have you with us in this epic tournament! As our dear creator Masahiro said, feel free to use this space however you wish. However, to help get you get started, feel free to share your thoughts on the following questions:
1. What do you make of the Arena format and how will it impact on the way you choose to play?
2. What considerations came into play when you selected the Red Team?
3. Which fellow players did you find yourself drawn to in the first day?
4. Conversely, have you already made any enemies? Is there anyone on your Team that you aren't happy to see there?
5. Finally, do you have any thoughts on the Sandbags and how will they affect your approach to the game?
Feel free to reach out to the hosting team at any time if you have any questions. We’ll try to get back to you as quickly as possible.
Otherwise, we hope you have fun in this tournament and best of luck with being crowned Smash Arena: Ultimate Champion!

Okay, time for an update! So...I failed to anticipate how bad becoming available at 8pm most nights would be, huh? People aren't really around early in the morning as much, and then I wasn't here while everyone was most active. Hopefully that becomes less of an issue once we get into the game proper and relationships are established. I'll try and work something out to make it easier on myself if I can as well if it continues to be an issue. But yeah, having to choose a team when I'd barely spoken to anyone was a bit of an experience lol. At first I planned on waiting and taking advantage of the extra time to chat with people before deciding, but then it seemed like everyone started jumping into teams quickly and I lost my nerve and figured I better just make a decision.
I went with Red for a few reasons. The first is that I didn't want to be with Captain Falcon. It's more of a gut feeling from his public posts, but I just didn't think I'd click with him. Richter's first message to me was a bit weak as well. Green was looking somewhat appealing initially (especially because Dark Pit was the one person I'd actually managed to have a few messages back and forth with), but it seemed to be filling up with lots of the bigger personalities who'd been active throughout the day. And alarmingly fast. Like, pre-planned fast. And I did not want to be joining a crew of social butterflies when I knew my time would be limited for a few days.
So Red was already pretty appealing, but Robin had also made a good impression with his public posts. And he's clearly a Fire Emblem fan which I thought would be a good sign of our compatibility. And while it wasn't based on much...I haven't been proven wrong yet. Robin has been pretty cool so far.
I don't have much to report beyond that really. The tribe is still in the getting to know you phase (which I abhor), and it seems like a few of them are barely more active than I have been? Hard to tell because they might just be ignoring me, but based on their messaging style it definitely feels like there's a few of the quieter types on this tribe. Namely DK, Wii Fit Trainer and to a lesser extent Duck Hunt Duo. Haven't had a chance to talk to Isabelle yet, and Mario's obviously MIA.

Solid update and thanks for explaining your reasoning (for tribe choice).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Samus!
You said you avoided Green Team because they were filled with social butterflies, and that your Red Team has a few of the quiet types. How do you fit into this tribe and will that suit your game better?

I was surprised that Duck Hunt played his highest Attack cards in the first round. They knew that wouldn’t be necessary. Their explanation is that they wanted to put it all on the table and presumably lower their threat level, but…I’m not sure if I buy that. I think the real reason is that Duck Hunt is trying to maintain control. Disregarding Final Smashes, playing a 21+22 is pretty much unbeatable, right? You either win the Shield bag or nobody does. So by playing his highest cards in the first round and establishing this as a pattern, it means that in this round someone would have to use those cards to try and ensure getting it. And Duck Hunt doesn't even actually need to use his next highest cards this round. Just the idea that he will is enough.
The next strategic leap from here is that he and Wii Fit Trainer are really overtiming this thing, and she will play her 21+22 this round. And then Robin in the round after. Always ensuring that they get immunity, or nobody does. It’s a powerful idea if you have a very solid group.
Is it worth not having access to them in the merge, though? Hard to say.
But it is an interesting move.
