Isabelle - this girl so cute i can't handle it! such a good secretary, do your best isabelle! <3

Robin - going with grima and robin as two sides of coin fun idea! but both seem very one note and also competing with two other people doing same thing. still fun! 

Duck Hunt - they cute! i like dog is in character as horrible troll and duck is along for ride.

Wii Fit, Samus - kind of boring in public, they just them!! it what i would do too tho, can't complain. post moar!

Mario - boring and also no fun accent play, why they pick mario?? what point??

Blue Team



Pyra & Mythra - they very funny! tora-pon tell me this portrayal is 100% accurate, except pyra and mythra have swapped personalities whyyyy so hard to get used to. riki like sense of humour outside of simple two in one gimmick. just swap personalities back to correctness. go xenoblade! 

Captain Falcon - this guy so funny also! i big fan of f-zero, arrogant horny captain falcon not canon but veerrrry fitting for theoretical mature f-zero. i feel like he only fun to watch tho, maybe die quick

Squirtle - they post very funny gif!! but also committed to no speaking well. learn from riki, speak great! 

Richter - pretty good but need to commit to religious zealotry properly! or if the 'sin' and jesus mentions are just coincidence then boring go to bottom of list for failure

Falco Berdly Falco - at first i though they berdly, was very excited this funny idea! but they didn't stick with it so they dead to me now.

Ike, Marth - no impression so far, post moar!

Green Team

King DeDede - he seem fun and invested already, riki approve! but does he know the o.g. king is greedy charlatan, not benevolent ruler? ah well still fun

Dark Pit - he also seem fun, good dynamic with pyra/mythra, why no stay together? seems cute, hope he leans into emo thing more

Pirahna Plant - discount squirtle, still okay. 

Kazuya, Wario, King K Rool - so boring, all just generic hellos in public. i don't know kazuya so maybe accurate, but wario and k rool should be greedy assholes, not average people. maybe wario have potential.

Link - why he say he green when wearing blue??? why pick worst most boring link??? what mess



oh and yoshi exist. i don't get egg thing, seems like lot of effort. is this normal??? they so good at org they have to handicap self?

I am quite hyped for Kirby/Carby and the Mario Kart DLC! I actually think Live A Live looks better than Triangle Strategy? A weapon/ideology triangle is hardly groundbreaking, but the stories spanning eras seems super interesting conceptually. Both are clearly gorgeous. Would be very keen to replay Advance Wars and Portal as well.

riki think live a live also look amazing! riki just love tactic games and think triangle strategy looks like a very good one! riki like heavier focus on positioning

portal an old obsession of riki, riki has over 100 hours in portal 2 playing custom level packs and building own levels with perpetual testing initiative. delightful game for young players, one of best ever!

kirby look fun, wifey-pon is most excited for kirby from direct! i think it look good but i normally do not love 3-d platformer game. still will play when wifey-pon has finished

when kirby eat car, for moment riki thought it was fake out for new mario kart with more cross universe shenanigans. karby mode funny but want to race around dreamland and other nintendo properties, only way f-zero places ever see light of day again

Hahahaha, oh F-Zero. We're coming up on the 20-year anniversary of GX now surely? I still mourn the lack of Wave Race and 1080: Snowboarding.

I see a lot of people keen for a hypothetical Nintendo Kart, could be quite a novel idea but I think they have to be careful not to take away from the uniqueness of the Smash concept. Either way, it'll probably have to wait until the next console now. Would enjoy a Metroid set a ton. Imagine driving laps around Mother Brain!

r.i.p. av, best f-zero and best monkey ball games, why they stop? so tragic. 20 years of f-zero and riki still not beat chapter six or seven very hard, riki convinced it impossible for mortals. chapter six need speedrunning tech? riki do chapter without hitting single wall and boosting constantly and getting all health pickups and door still crush blue falcon and also crush riki hopes and dreams for 100 percent completion

riki not developer on any nintendo property, don't have to care about other products in line, just want to race around fun nintendo places! let me drive in phendrana drifts and chozo ruins! or gaur plain and tantal! or the water temple and stone tower! riki could list example for days, not even include third party or pokemon. metroid top of list for sure though, so many great option!

Distressed and stressed about work, so I'm going to blow it off and do another ranking, even if not a lot has happened the handful of public posts that have been added can tip the scales! Ranking folks in each team, order is how much I like them from high to low.

Red Team


Robin - Still doing the Grima/Robin thing but more as an introduction than a consistent thing, with what feels like a more sincere personality starting to shine beneath. I don't know what actually lurks in their hearts, but their thoughts on the spec-stands have been an entertaining window to their tribe. That being said, they seem a bit acerbic? They seemed to be getting along OK with Capt. Falcon, but then low-key insulted them to Dark Pit and I can't tell if it's flavor or genuine annoyance? But its done in such a minor way that probably it won't really go reported on unless Ike or Dark Pit are fanatically analytical. Also holy shit 'Blue tribe must be tough if my boy Ike here is in the ring'. Like, Ike hasn't been on the board since he was put up, wtf are you talking about lol. 

Isabelle - Her starting nine posts were oozing charm and personality, but she's not been around since. I hope she shows up again soon! 

Duck Hunt - They're a curiosity. Fun gimmick, Robin seems to think decently of them, and using some high attacks makes them both stand out and be a bit weaker, which makes them marginally more interesting than the rest.

Samus - I'm coming around on Samus a bit, as far as the red team goes. Acknowledging they're having a slow start and having basically solid, informative posts gives me hope for more life out of them later. I could see myself rooting for them as the game goes on maybe?

Wii Fit - Meh? Almost nothing on the boards, and Robin says she's pure gameplay in messages. I'd probably like actually playing with them because they'd be comprehensible, but watching them is less exciting. 

DK - Not only did I forget to include them in my last ranking, no one else noticed. I think that about sums up my feelings on them? Robin's scathing 'shoulda stuck to not knowing English' had me chuckling, but that was more at DK's expense than anything.

Mario - Really not feeling them, although I just find Mario a boring character so I can't tell how much of that is my own taste leaking through. 


Blue Team


Captain Falcon - I like the Captain! His ultra-confidence thing is fairly in character, the only real difference is that the default Captain Falcon is more of a protagonist and less of a meathead. I liked him trying to bridge the comms between his team and the spec-stands. His communication style seems very solid while staying in character.

Squirtle - The gif game is on for me point here, I especially like victory dance over Mario's defeat after Mario's been outted as anti-turtle. 

Pyra & Mythra - They've only posted once or twice since my last update and they broke character in it, which is kinda lame. Still holding out hope the weird forward Pyra/shy Mythra thing comes back. 

Falco Berdly Falco - Setting up a thread for public discussion is an easy way to my heart, and I do enjoy his banter with Captain Falcon, but feel like he's better playing off others than doing stuff himself. Still, definitely a lot of potential to rise through my rankings!


Richter - Still just kind of solid. I liked them taking part in the Blue Team's discussion on card usage.  Would be in my top three on any other team, but tragically blue has all the best public posters. 

Marth - Seems fine?

Ike - Gets to be in Spec-stand, then doesn't show up. Maybe our timezones are just really opposite, but thus far it's a bit of a waste.


Green Team

King DeDede - Really enjoyed his kingly vibes in Spec-stand 1. The idea of telling a player to kick rocks appeals but would be too much for me, so if they were truthful I admire that.  

Dark Pit - Dark Pit is a really close second, they seem to manage pretty solid banter with whomever they wind up with, their chat with Robin has been fun to read. 

Wario - I very much appreciate them trying to have some fun public conversations with the G Corp. I wish other folks had joined in! Keep trying king, I enjoy watching it. I also like the bit of sleuth work on who the other two losers were before it's announced; it wasn't useful in any way I could see, but I like it means he's paying attention! 

Kazuya - Committing to a evil devil schtick in a cast of basically nice heroes is a solid plan, especially given the other villains are a bit more neutral or milquetoast. 

Pirahna Plant - Still just discount Squirtle to me, but other folks are putting in more now.

King K Rool - Hasn't posted since last time. Really not much to say.

Link - Same as K Rool, except I'm sufficiently petty to hold him saying Green is his color when he's wearing blue. Realistically K Rool or Link could both shoot up the ranks if they do anything in public. 


Yoshi - Sure still exists. It's funny how many folks have pegged him as a big behind the scenes town gossip, but aside from his own (incredibly weird??) gimmick post they're a ghost to me. Anyone reading want to weigh on this egg thing? Is it a common decision to announce you're playing by different rules? I feel like doing that + being hyper social early on is a weird decision because you stand out too much without necessarily being actually liked? I'd find it off-putting but I'm far from an old hand.

I've had my coffee and morning readthrough of what I missed after I went to bed last night, and feel the time is ripe for a round 3 ranking! It's beginning to become extremely clear how much I bias towards folks who post in public more, because the post count list at this time is probably a basically accurate representation!

Red Team

As a whole this team seems pretty quiet. The only members of the team that post anything of substance is Robin and Samus, and most of that substance is either disdain for their other teammates (mostly Robin) or about each other (mostly Samus). I feel like every member of this team got lucky in going here.

Robin - A quirk of how the spec-stands have meant I've seen more of them than anyone else thus far. A solid gimmick and snarky personality underneath it while also being the premiere active member of the Red Team. Watching what seems to be the start of a edgy anime pretty boy alliance in the spec-stands was pretty great though, and I can't help but notice that Dark Pit's novel full of fun and interesting details was matched with not much but 'lol no one on my team is competent', but it seems like they're maybe using Samus to communicate between them now? Robin seemed more complimentary of her than the rest earlier as well. 

Samus - Definitely won over by Samus's calm but confident banter, from a slow start they might wind up being a favourite of mine, assuming they can get out from the reputation as an inactive.

Isabelle - She's so cute, and I love the rep, but I'm really sad we're not seeing much of her and that both Robin and Samus describe her as inactive or at max her heart not being in it. 

Duck Hunt - Meh, burning through attacks at such a rate is interesting, but it feels like my initial wonder if this makes sense has been answered by the relative bemusement of the rest of the cast's comments on it. 

Wii Fit, DK, Yoshi - None of these people post publicly enough to give me any clue of what they're thinking, nor have they said anything memorable. Yoshi seems the most erratic of the bunch, for what that's worth, but it wasn't enough to warrant a separate line. 


Blue Team

Publicly the most fun to watch, and also the most unpredictable feeling, being the only team to not have a unanimous vote thus far! That being said they are the biggest mystery in terms of makeup, as none of the folks that have traveled to the spec-stands have posted anything noteworthy gameplay wise. If I could eavesdrop on one team's PMs, this would be the team just so I could feel like I had a more complete view of the game. I do love watching them try to debate the sandbag gimmick together! 

Pyra & Mythra - Spicy Pyra & Airheaded Mythra is back on the menu! She got the most chuckles out of me this round.  No shield feels bad for her, but funny to me. 

Squirtle - Most consistently funny, I wonder how long they spent finding relevant gifs? 

Captain Falcon - I still like the Captain, but he's starting to feel a bit one-note. I wonder if other folks didn't seem to like him because they already played with someone like this before?

Falco Berdly Falco - Poor little guy, Falco Vs. The World: Sandbag Edition has been a fun little side plot. 

Richter - Richter is a really solid guy, occasionally pretty funny. I feel like he'd be really high on my list on other teams, but he just has so much to compete with here. I hope we get more out of him in the spec-stands but I feel like we won't; DP already has too many groups they're invested in to want to form another, and I doubt Samus and Richter are going to form a team with him watching? Also of the three he seems maaaaybe a little weaker socially? His initial message to the both of them was a bit off, focusing way more on one than the other. Ah well, maybe I'm just reading too much into the little info I have to go off of!

Marth - Seems fine?

Pirahna Plant - I love them for stirring shit up on their team but unless I get the deets it doesn't mean much to me, and otherwise I was pretty indifferent to them to start with.


Green Team

Thank god for Dark Pit spilling the tea on what the fuck is going on over here, because most of them totally ignore the main boards. Secondary thanks to Wario for some public entertainment. From the snippets I've gotten to see I feel like from the hosts seats this has to be the most fun team to watch but without seeing PMs or rooms I have soooo little to go off. 

Dark Pit - Getting to look over DP's shoulder for two rounds in a row is delightful, I'm quite pleased about it. Also they laid out their view of Green so thoroughly I can't help but be appreciative. They seem really fun to banter with both publicly and in the spec-stand, managing good chemistry with most of the group. I wonder if Green is actually as incestuous as they say, or if they just happen to be in the middle of it? Also, if they could wave a wand to get sent into the ring asap I would if I were them, while there are still inactives to make it a relatively safe jump to Red. But that's still pretty high risk.

Wario - Wario's commitment to fun ideas in public is something we should all strive for, and knowing they're overplaying and messing about so much that I get to hear about it in the spec-stands fills my little heart with joy. 

King D3 - Still like seeing his messages; he seems very measured. Not much of a character, but I'm excited to see where this lands them as the game goes on.

Kazuya - DP has said they're around less and less but the public posts they make have been getting largely better. 

King K Rool, Link, Mario - Not much in public, and what is there doesn't inspire any emotions or thoughts at all. Interesting to hear that K. Rool is at least interesting behind the scenes I guess, hopefully we see him in the spec-stands soon. The other two feel like they have an incredibly short shelf life.

Hey friends, sorry it's taken me a bit to leave a comment here or there. I'm still getting used to Proboards and how everything works. But this game looks like a lot of fun so far, and a lot of stars. Captain Falcon, Dark Pit and Samus just to name a few. I'm a little bit jealous that I didn't end up playing but I can't wait to see how things go from here on out.
