ROUND 1:
I felt pressured to immediately tell Robin that I found the Smash Ball. Robin had, unprompted, told me the Spectator Stands clue, and so I felt like he had a very high chance of entering the secret forum. If he did, he would see the timing on the "it's already been found" message and I would clearly be a prime suspect. So, better to get ahead of the narrative immediately. If he had not shared anything, I would have kept quiet about it.
This is not great news for me because Robin is clearly talking to the other team captains and also Yoshi. But I don't think a Smash Ball is nearly as powerful as, say, an Immunity Idol, so I'm not too worried. Even if they blindside me, I am relatively confident I can do well at challenges, so I figure I have enough muscle to take some risks in this game.
I also decided to share the secret with Duck Hunt because I don't want them finding out via Robin, i.e. I need to be ahead of the narrative with my closest allies. Also, I want Duck Hunt to go to Spectator Stands next round. I don't want that target on my back yet, and I already have a Smash Ball so the clue isn't as useful to me yet.
Meanwhile: Yoshi is bad bad news and absolutely has to go. They're all up in my DMs, out of nowhere, unprompted, and know too much about all the teams, including ours. Messy. The joke-y egg strategy is obviously a cover for something more nefarious.
For fun, I am considering blowing up Yoshi's spot in the all-public chat, even throwing in an additional lie that they told me about the Smash Ball clues, i.e. that Falcon and Dedede already have theirs, etc. i.e. I want everyone else to be annoyed about how much tea Yoshi is spilling, so that they're an immediate vote-back-in for any team they join. That's probably too dramatic of me to be considered "good" strategy but maybe some public drama is fun...

Thanks for your thoughts Wii Fit Trainer! You say you want to get ahead of the narrative. What do you think the current narrative about you is in the eyes of others?

When I say "get ahead of the narrative" there I meant it more specific, i.e. I didn't want them thinking I was withholding information and lying immediately. Bad precedent to be lying from Day 1.
But apparently Yoshi already knows the Red team is "quiet" and that me, Robin, Duck Hunt are talking. I feel relatively confident it's Robin spilling the beans, so I tried to spook him about how messy Yoshi is.

VOTE 1
Wait Duck Hunt used *both top cards* on an early immunity?? I have to believe they're trying to visibly reduce their threat level ("see, I have no big cards!") but it's almost too transparent?
Meanwhile: I'm still weirded out by the "think one round into the future" timing of Immunity Sandbag. And being voted for isn't even *that* bad if you back yourself in your challenge ability (especially late game). I reckon the trick is to get on top of what challenges I'm good at, and ride the Attack Bag, i.e. maybe the most important skill in this game is correctly gauging your skill in various challenges.

Meanwhile: I'm still weirded out by the "think one round into the future" timing of Immunity Sandbag. Think of it this way. Due to the nature of non live, the goal is to give everyone as much time as possible to react to all information necessary for a round. So imagine the sandbags as just pre emptive Immunity/Reward challenges. we get them out of the way the round before so everyone has a full round to use that information and nobody is disadvantaged by their availability.

Sorry it wasn't a critique of the game design! More that I haven't figured out the "strategy" here yet. Not sure what my plan is.

Wait sorry *still* trying to wrap my head around Sandbag timing:
Robin, Falcon, Piranha just got the Attack bag. When they choose stages, is that affecting the Mario Ike Piranha duel? Or the duel the next day?
i.e. it sounds like: Attack Sandbag forces you to make a decision immediately (within next hour, if you didn't provide a pre-list) is that right?
What I'm trying to work out is: if you feel like "oh no I might be voted for tonight", it's not immediately useful to bid for Immunity bag since it kicks in a day later. But it sounds like you *should* maybe bid high for Attack bag to try to affect what Duel you'd enter. Is that correct? i.e. Attack Bag is "responsive" in a way Immunity Bag is not.

Which is why in non live games you always leave a list. Always. Although I believe immunity carries with you, so even if you think youll be voted out, you might want immunity anyway for whichever tribe you return to, unless you intend on losing the duel (which lol) but yes, not 'immediately' useful if i understand how you mean.

Masahiro Sakurai wait did you clarify what the numbers on our avatars mean? (mine is 47). I can't remember. Is that just a decorative Smash number?

Masahiro Sakurai Sorry to have missed the vote today! I should make sure to put in backup votes. Question, sorry if I should know this: so it's possible we'll only know by, say, 7pm who is entering Red Team, is that correct? If so, we might only have an hour to "respond" to the new team member in terms of possibly voting them that very night?

Yep, that is the case; to make up for that, you can leave the duelists in your voting lists. Generally, if it takes until 7 pm, it's because of a default where someone doesn't attempt the challenge. You can also PM the duelists, so you can get some idea of how things will shake out there too.

Hello Ms Trainer! I'm back with more questions: You've now seen the enormous value of leaving lists of preferences whenever you can How do you believe this self vote will reflect on you? Do your teammates know? Given that the Duel has 3 contestants, that means you potentially have to make plans for 4 different scenarios (if each of the three join your team, or if none do). Is this pushing strategy conversations forward, or is it stifling/delaying them?

Masahiro Sakurai am I allowed to start a 3 or 4 way DM with multiple Red Team members?
