Regarding boots,

Cap says Pythra (but Squirtle is not off the table)

Pythra says Cap or Rocks

Squirtle says he'd prefer Pythra, but Cap could happen.

I see why Squirtle is in that boat - I'm in the opposite boat but same situation due to voting for Cap that time - but I would also think the way Cap is saying he's willing to cut him, while the Girls ain't might have pushed him closer to a Cap boot.

I rather hope we don't get a Marth/Plant returnee here. An untouchable fifth variable that would tip the scales some direction is unwanted. Like Plant will just vote whatever he wants. Could be me cos his PM back to my message was rightfully snotty. But like, dude sent me one PM yesterday - what do I do with that? And then Marth - I *think* Marth likes me, but I have no confidence in it. His best play if he came here would be to tell everyone everything that everyone is saying and just fuck shit up for maximum post-shuffle disturbance.    

The volunteering idea get more and more appealing, but I still don't like it.

As much as I like Squirtle, he really puts me off sometimes. Like even know when we need it most, it is like milking a stone cow for information. I post that thread and he tells me privately that he supports it. Dude! Post in the thread then!! Stop keeping your cards so close to your chest, we can all read them a mile away.

At this rate I'm tempted to rally a Squirtle boot

I am definitely warming to the idea of just cutting Squirtle. I don't know if I can trust Falcon at all. But I think I can at least trust his fear of duelling and rocks?

Yes of course there were further shenanigans at play when posting that thread - I would like to try get a read on these player's challenge skills - which is painfully difficult to do in Arena without committing to putting them in.


If we killed Squirtle outright, Cap would become a free agent. And either I land on his tribe and we're seen as not close, or I land with the girls and we're seen as close. Or they hit the opposite tribe and I'm lonely.

I mean, the story if we killed off Cap or the ladies is very similar, but I think he would squirm away in a way that they won't. OTOH, if we stick together here - I have a little more faith in his ability to work his way in and protect me as a partner than the others. But would he do it? idk. I've called him squirrelly so many times today I am starting to buy into it myself.

I need to talk to the girls first and see how much they trust Cap. As of their last message they did seem to want to cut Squirtle instead.


I have very few allies here. I've chatted to plenty of the duellists, but none of them actually came and joined bar the bloody Plant. I have *maybe* bonds with Mario, Yoshi, Wii Fit, Marth - but they are all only just solid bases to work from - nothing better than that.

Meanwhile I have three bonds that I'd like to keep - especially as I'm getting only one at pretty much random. Target Squirtle than land with him, target Cap then land with him - these are both terrrrrrrrrible routes. Is volunteering less terrible? Maybe. Maybe not.

Go big or go home? Maybe.

I've convinced myself that doing it is strategically sounder than not doing it. I may be being a right plonker, but go big or go home eh?

And I'm sure if I was hosting I'd be posting many vom emojis in the blogs right now. Let me be clear, this is not because I love these guys soooooo much that I can't bear the thought of voting them. Hell no, I'd cut any one of them tonight - I only know these schmoes a week. It's not for the sake of ~Big Moves^TM~ either.

The way this swap is working, I think it's the best way to ensure I have at least one ally on the other side of it (if I make it) as opposed to zero, or worse, someone actively working against me. There are downsides too of course. People on Red and Green will hear this and hate it. But if they decide to break us up, well, they are going to want to be targeting the guy that didn't volunteer. So this one risk now buys me an extra layer of safety later.

Everyone has to duel sooner or later. Anyone at F7 not duelled yet is going to be targetted af. Getting it done now, with a 2-in-3 chance of sliding by? And more chance of getting to pick the duel you want than later? Sure.

Before I go, a cast rankdown rated by who I'd most like to be on a tribe with after the swap. And some early and terrible ID guesses to go with.

People I do want:
Probably thinks I'm an idiot for volunteering and wondering why we didn't just cut squirtle/rocks it. No clue on ID. Could be anywhere from a BZ to a competent dTard. Maybe Ginja? Higher than the other Blues by benefit of sticking with her for rocks. That counts for something

Feels like an A2k2 or a Were style. I go back and forth between "he's my 1" and "he's sketch af". Still, he's here at my times and good to bounce ideas off. Kinda. He's getting more squirtley in messages where I'd hoped the schtick might ease off a bit by now.

We don't have full trust yet, but we should after tonight. We end up together and we'll be good for the rest of the game. Felt like James sometimes, but he's not *quite* the right type of cocky. James would have more confidence. Maybe it's a shaken James from that vote? Maybe it's his big V apprentice?

I can see a land of opportunity here IF she doesn't join the tribe. If she does oy-vey, we'll boot her and I'll tell her as much. ID, no clue. One of the Viets. Rachel?

We had a decent start. The vote was justifiable. And his new Green allies burned him pretty fast. If not for the last point he'd be way lower. But he might not have many options come shuffle, and I should look pretty promising to him. I like his complete lack of schtick too. ID? Like an spn or someone.

A mystery. Maybe feels a little isolated since went for the shield?

Promising but untested. I feel like he bores me already and I haven't even spoken with yet. Some dA weeb.

Talkative and probably too many allies already to be worth anything more than a working relationship.

He emanates danger. I need to talk with him privately for a better read.

I could actually work well with Mario, but he's also a trap where I try to help him too much. I get a naive vibe, like a Samuel. I kinda hope he's my opponent in the duel cos I'd not have lost to him yet.

Something very calculated puts me off here. Like not quiet - intentionally keeping cards close to the chest. Posting just enough to remind people she's here. I will say Ethan just on account of his Metroid obsession. A cagey player sounds kinda like his MO too.

Telling everyone what they want to hear? That's a perfectly formed Yog-trap. I would be suckered right in and not see the axe coming until it's too late.

This is even less workable than Yoshi's eggs. It's not the pics so much as the frequency. Feels like FDE enjoyed his stint as Bouldy in Hades and wanted to do it again. A pity, since I get on very well with FDE.

Fair warning, I ain't playing this until after work, like 8-12 hours away. I want to A) Talk to as many people as possible, and B) do a few more practice runs (though I have played this game like 200 grids already this week). I like this puzzle and had never played it before I saw it here.

An interesting choice to make too, in the 6x6 v 8x8 v 10x10. Not as simple as just going big for max time savings.

After the last few days madness, a relative calm has descended on me. The Arena, with a duel I handpicked? Sure, I might fail in hilarious fashion later. but right now I feel like I've got home turf advantage.
