This is the shit from Mario that baffles me:
Depends who comes in, eh? If Donkey Kong comes in that's a bad news for you. If a the twins come in it's a still even.
Like what the fuck dude, who says that? I hope the Reds do decide to cut him here.
Also Pit telling the Twins that they wanted a 4-4 tie but it was me that backed out. Quietly seething and trying not to let that spill into PMs too much.

That is very workable but also dull af. We're on Step 7 of the ORG playbook. "HI YOU ARE SOCIAL I AM SOCIAL LETS CUT THE NON-SOCIAL". But the likes of K.Rool or Duck Hunt aren't non-social? They just have a short & sharp messaging style. It's boring but I would survive if I go along with it.
I used to get a lot of stick around ORGY way for always wanting to go with the Robin Hood strategy of rounding up the outsiders to overthrow the comfortable. I don't know why I always revert to that. It's just fun. But like, have you ever made F8 with four or five trolls? It's hilarious and fun.
Probably a bit of a meta conversation but this interests me.
Obviously not commenting on any situation in this game, but generally I would probably find myself most commonly drawn to social people, but not closing the door on "non social". But in my experience it really comes down to reliability. Most of the time, I find 'non-social' people to also not be that reliable, either when it comes to messaging me in a timely manner (possibly because I'm usually not online for extended periods to have those quick back and forths that you talk about) or because their short messaging style leads to a lack of a sense of trust... because they aren't really doing or saying anything to build that sense of trust.
So given all that, coupled with your wealth of experience and bringing it back here, I'm curious if you have any deeper thoughts on the subject of these broad types of messaging styles and how they impact strategy and, on a grander sense, the ORG meta at large.

There's definitely something to that and that's why it is the dominant strategy. It's like the Nash Equilibrium theory - if all social players agree that the best way to play is this way then why not do it? And people get sooo pissed when you don't just do that. Like you broke the unwritten rule! Nah boy, you wanted a game, you have to account for speedbumps like those stray players.
There is a part of it too, where I feel like it's giving something back. The people who are more social and have trodden that path 30 times before know what an endgame is like and it's the same old people. The ones who don't play like that might have it be a whole new experience.
I'm not entirely selfless here either. I get a whole new experience too, because anything could happen - there is more scope for big crazy moves to play out. And of course, when you go to an FTC with two inexperienced players, it doesn't hurt your chances.

Something I've done to great success in other ORGs that I kinda forgot I do more than the average player is shitting on our allies It's usually not particularly subtle or anything, but I think most people shy away from it because they don't want to give up any ammunition that could be used against them. Examples from just my last three PMs here:
To Robin re Dede
To Pit re Pyra
To Pyra re Pit
Bitching about your allies is just good business. How else are you going to find out who agrees with you when it's time to turn? How else are you going to let them know you are ready to make a move any time now.

*cries in hardly ever making endgame* I'm sure you have won many things, no? Norp. I won a mostly inactive BB game (Expect the Unexpected 2), an Amazing Race game that was 100% challenge focused with Dreamz as my partner... and that's it.
The only other close thing is AusStranded Japan where I came 2nd to Dreamz 5-3-1, but would've won a 4-4-1 tiebreaker.

Damn.
Better start mixing up that strategy of going to the end with the socialites so!

And I technically came 2nd in Super Mario Party but the hosts will argue it was actually 5th.

Damn. Better start mixing up that strategy of going to the end with the socialites so! I don't! I mostly get unceremoniously dumped early/mid-merge, where there's plenty of all kinds around. Idk how to not do that.

Well, I have some vague plans to host my second game later this year. I will rope you in by hook or by crook. It will be neither mostly inactive or 100% challenge based, so you'll have to up your game!

Idk how to not do that. I mean honestly this is my typical placement too. Early Jury spots for the most part. Occasional pre-Jury flop games, and occasional "oh-shit-I can't-believe-this-is-actually-working" endgames. I have won what .. five times? But I've played more than 50, maybe 60 by now. I was bound to fall into something sooner or later.
Which reminds me of something I never commented on but I was thinking about pre-game.
My second ever anon-game (and the first one was really a write off due to not knowing what I got into) I played as Peppy Hare. One of BZs mega-gigantic 40 player games - Nintendo Wars.
So there is a nice closing of the circle here to be playing as Falco in this.
In that game I made merge, and then immediately tanked my own game due to telling too many people too many things, and pretty much telling the boot they were that. So some things never change.

I have not PMd Duck hunt and it's taking everything I have to keep that up. Well, i turned chicken and didn't answer him till after the deadline. Although only messaging me 1 minute before ain't great on his part. (I justify my action, since I did owe him a message, and would have equally bitched if he double-PMd me).
I feel like it is happening as I think here. But there's a nagging feeling around Dede's laxness.
In good news, second hand info would indicate Mario was unwilling to vote for me. That's both good and bad to hear. My bleeding heart might not be able to deal.
