And off to Pink we go.

I think the obvious thing here is that there are three Greens who were never in danger, and three Reds the same. So far, so comfortable for them. Maybe K.Rool or Duck were on shaky ground, but neither has said it directly to me. And then there's Mario - who was booted by Red, Green, and Red again? I should look that up.

So a few options for me between just picking one side, or trying some flip-flop shenanigans, or getting cut and travelling to Gold. Potentially Pythra could join us, and many future maybe-mutineers.

For today at least, my focus is just being open and friendly and trying my damndest to not be the one that throws out the first target. (Tomorrow a different story)

A lot of my strategy has to be fluid here. The main thing is to be likeable and open enough that the plan doesn't become "truce and boot Falco". Bigger picture, I'd like to have at least one tight ally from each of the old colours. But if they just go to tribal lines, that may not be possible.

If they do go to tribal lines, I vote with the Greens just for rock's sake, I bloody swear.

Strategies that I can control for now is my Cards bids. I continue to have zero interest in the Grab bag. And Shield money is better spent elsewhere. Only two challenges remain that I dread - Big Blue & Smashville. If I can get one or the other out now, then I'm covered for future rounds because I can just ban the last if I'm ever in duelling. So one last big push on the Attack Cards would set me up for the rest of the game and I can use my cash elsewhere then. In theory it's easier to get a challenge out now too, since there's only three bans happening per round. But I imagine I'm not the only one with a dislike for those two - they could be popular choices for banning all the same.

I took a look at Garreg Mech and getting that gone was money well spent. Maths under time pressure is not my forte.

I suppose some first impressions are in order. I'd like to give some of the players a little more time to get back to me/open up a bit, but then they wouldn't be first impressions any more.

Rated not by closeness, but by spoke the least with to most:

Very few PMs so far. Like two from me and one from thee. Seems just extra chill rather than putting up no effort. Might be he's busy with other message chains and I'm just not priority. In turn that might be a sign of a comfortable Red. Like I'm sure first stop was a four-way chain and patting each other on the back for randomly landing together, but you gotta always work the fringes too. Look at me, I'm the fringes now. 

As feared he kinda bores me just a little. Fire Emblem completely passed me by, and I have no interest in the backstory fluff. I had to google him just now even to remember his game. If this was day 1 on a brand new tribe he'd be my push. But it's not so I won't. He's obviously more capable than some on the tribe, but I don't see that alone as a reason to bond. Early days though. I need to give him more too. We need a spark. Feels like that might not arrive until after a vote though.

A danger here in that he knows more about the volunteering aspect than I'd like. I was hoping to keep that quiet and not a big deal for at least a round til I find my feet.

 

As few as above but these ones are chunky at least. But chunky as they are they are rather void of content. A whole lot of pleasantries and repetition without much ~connection~. He's clearly good, but again, feels either a touch comfortable, or just not bothered with me. Very talkative, but just feels like he's  talkative with everyone, not that I'm special or anything. He could leave.

Only two PMs deep and she's done what all the other can't and made me feel like there's a genuine future here. I luv and want to make her luv me back. Seems to be opening up and I find myself lowering my guard with her. The most promising prospect so far for sure.

I can't entirely help myself mind you. she asked for a rundown and I specifically noted K.Rool as my other fave. I don't know that that works as a link-up whatsoever. What I'd like to happen is that if she does just default to sticking with Red to target a Green, that little bit of input might steer their target onto one of Pit/Dedede - both of whom I see as more dangerous.

The only(?) one from here that reached out to me both first and before I was here. Clever girl. Only makes me double-down on the belief that he was running Green.

Kinda dissuaded me from joining for some reason. Might be he didn't want me here. just be that he didn't want to ask. Might be that he genuinely didn't care and would just deal with whatever happened once it happened. I feel like I need to be cautious around him.

I've spoken with K.Rool a surprising amount. Reminds me of DK a bit. Short but frequent PMs, with no real undertone of hiding anything or pushing for any agenda apart from K.Rool to survive another day. I like him a lot. I don't know that we'd make a very good team but I do want to see him stick around a while.

last but not least is Mario. we've chatted a fair bit. Even more if you count all the Duel conversations. Like we're three pages deep already which puts him on par with Pythra. But it's like an choppy videochat - there's a gremlin in the line somewhere. Sometimes you ask something straight up and he just blissfully ignores it. I find myself simplifying my messages. With someone like Samus I just type whats on my mind and she seems to pick up on what I actually mean. With him I have to detail what I mean and even then it might not get through.

He *should* be the pivot piece for me here, after spending time on Green and having been chopped by Red. But I don't know if that's possible. We're not really on the same wavelength. Still, I'd prefer him alive than dead.

Hey Falco!

You mentioned that you would side with Green in a Red vs Green vote dynamic, but also have since mentioned that Samus has left the best impression on you so far. Has this initial feeling changed, or do you still feel the red/green ratio needs to be adjusted in one direction or another?

What do you most want out of this first vote, and do you think there's a path to achieving that?

I don't really know yet to be honest. My thing about rocks earlier was more that it would just be so dull if it just took a red/green split and that was all that was happening. Anyone I've talked to has nodded and said yes, you're right we shouldn't just stick to OG Tribe lines but at the same time, I'm talking to Green about the way there's four Reds and to Red about how much tougher Green have had it and are therefore closer.

I would have liked more chat today while I was unexpectedly free, but not much went on since the initial arrival and flurry of messages at start of (my) day. And now it's bedtime, I ain't hanging around after hours on a night off.

With the Greens in general I am trying to spook them a little - how DK might be the Gold boot, and we don't want five old reds here next round (this conveniently means I should also not be the target.

Samus is immune (and besides, I'm rather fond of her)

I rather like Mario too, but he continues to frustrate. I eventually asked him straight up what he wants here. He had told me more than once why it would be good for me to side with the greens which is weird. He answered that he wants to keep his cards close to his chest for now I don't know what to do with that. I feel like he thinks he owes Red.

He could very well be an easier target, but I'd like to split Samus away from Robin if possible.

Lastly and most importantly, K.Rool has indicated some like of Duck Hunt, which may give a possibility of an "outsiders" trio, with me alone over here, and they both a little bit to the bottom of their previous. I'm not sure Duck Hunt feels the same but I've put it out there. Would DH vote an ex-Red? Very possibly yes, it feels more likely than any of Samus/Robin/Mario doing it.

So I'm going to slowly try to get to that goal. The tribe needs some kind of direction. Maybe they already have one and I'm just not being included either as the target or as an outsider. But it has to be slowly. If it's rushed it will filter back and then I definitely become the target.

I should mention here to tandem with my public thread about the sandbags - as on Blue I really don't care about Shield or Grab - but I don't want the focus of that thread to be Attack Bag only. I think though, peopl ewill be unwilling to talk about Shield but they want to say something. And they tell me about the Attack Bag

Now I still gotta worry about Mustard's bid, but at least that might rule a few over-bids out of the way.

I did feel Robin out to see how he feels about voting a Red to prove that he's not just bulking all reds up. He said no (of course he did). But he also mentioned doing a Green and (kinda accidentally?) specifically mentioned K.Rool, even though he also said he has no strong preference. idk.

How hot a vote would it be if three reds vote K.Rool, Two Greens voted Duck Hunt, but meanwhile Duck, KRool & myself voted for like, Robin or whoever? A 3-3-2

Or hell, if Mario came along with that and suddenly the four who voted correctly don't include any of the overdogs at all Very hot. Might go for a dip later idk.

Err, holy shit I love that as a plan actually. After all of three minutes pondering it.
I don't know if it's possible - I'd probably have to stay awake all night to get the timing right - but it might just be possible to get DH, KRool & Mario to all vote Robin.

Meanwhile let Robin & Samus vote K.Rool or whoever, while Dedede & Pit do DH.

The next round after that would be absolutely horrid of course, but goddamn that'd be a sweet result and slap them all into the game.

Okay ew, sounds like Robin's KRool proposal wasn't accidental. Seems like he & Pit are already deep in discussions on that being the boot. I don't like that, either the target or the fact that it's been happening already around me.
